A dedicated mother, wife, and community member, Emily Erickson helped found the Knife River Lutheran Church and a local Ladies Aid society, in which women gathered supplies for soldiers on the battlefield in World War I. During the church’s first year in operation, Emily was a faithful servant of the church, serving as a Sunday school teacher for twenty pupils. Shortly after, her husband helped form a Men’s Brotherhood in the mid-to-late 1920s.

About ten years after the Knife River Lutheran Church was formed, its members were serving suppers to pay off the mortgage. Emily and Sig hosted the suppers at their general store, and pitched in with meal preparation and serving.

Emily cared about the community. And we care about the community too. If you know of any fun community events that we can be a part of, please drop us a note.
